HPV1 or Jr1

Anyone have an opinion on which is the better package to run? I should clarify in that taking all factors, upfront cost, maintenance cost, durability, ease of tuning, etc. My son is moving up soon and we cannot decide which way to go. We are looking for any input. Thanks.

Hi Doug,

This is from an old post I made a few years back, the HPV 1 class has grown since then and my son is now starting his 2nd year as a Senior driver. Plan to drop a couple grand on a good Comer and buy 2-3 of them so one is always fresh. You can get away with one good HPV motor and it will cost you less. Here's the old post (they had already bought a kart with a Comer)

Unless you have a lot of disposable income, I would use your Comer to get your son LOTS of track time between now and the start of the season, then buy an HPV1 for him to start racing with. With the HPV, the motors require a lot less maintenance and are much closer in performance. When your son is ready to run Jr. II, change the carb and the pipe and run the same motor.
